To enhance employees' awareness of fire safety and their ability to handle emergency responses, as well as to ensure production safety and personnel safety, Asimco Camshaft organized its annual comprehensive fire-fighting and evacuation drill on July 8, 2025. Over 50 employees, mainly new hires, participated in the activity.
This practical drill simulated a "fire caused by electrical short circuit" in the office building and consisted of four key phases:
-
Fire Alarm and Initial Response: After discovering the "fire", on-duty personnel reported the situation immediately and notified the fire location via phone. The EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) Department arrived at the scene with fire extinguishers within 2 minutes, demonstrated the four-step operation method for dry powder fire extinguishers ("lift, pull, hold, squeeze"), and successfully controlled the initial fire.
-
Emergency Evacuation: Evacuation guides on each floor quickly took their positions. Through verbal instructions and hand gestures, they guided employees to bend down and keep a low posture, cover their mouths and noses with wet towels, and evacuate along the "dual-channel" route marked by emergency indicator lights.
-
Emergency Search, Rescue, and Medical Assistance: The drill simulated a scenario where two employees fainted. Rescuers launched a rescue operation, while the medical team simultaneously performed simulated cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the "injured personnel", demonstrating a professional response process.
-
Hands-on Training for Fire-fighting Equipment: In an open outdoor area, fire safety specialists explained in detail how to use fire extinguishers and fire hydrants. They organized over 50 new employees and personnel in key positions to conduct hands-on operations in groups, ensuring "everyone gets to practice and everyone passes the assessment".
After the drill, the Safety Committee held a review meeting. Data showed that the compliance rate for full-staff evacuation reached 100%, and the accuracy rate for initial fire-fighting operations stood at 95%. Notably, in the emergency evacuation drill, it took only 3 minutes and 28 seconds for all employees to evacuate to the safe assembly area, 12 seconds shorter than the time recorded last year.
Many employees stated that this activity transformed their mindset from "passive participants" to "active bearers" of safety responsibilities. Wang Yujun from the Equipment Department shared his profound experience: "I used to think operating a fire extinguisher was simple, but when I actually tried it, I realized there are many details—such as standing position relative to the wind direction and the angle of extinguishing. This training has given me a deeper understanding of the responsibility for fire safety."
"Fire drills are not a mere formality; they are a mandatory course for protecting lives," emphasized Du Wenwen, the company's General Manager. "The company must adhere to the concept of 'prevention first, life first', integrate safety culture into the entire production process, and build a solid 'firewall' for high-quality development." In the future, Asimco Camshaft will continue to pursue the goal of "zero accidents", improve its safety system, and consolidate its safety defense line.
