Below are the 10 most common after-sales issues with brake pads, along with professional solutions, compiled based on industry experience:
1. Brake noise (a frequent issue)
Causes: Incomplete bedding-in between the new brake pads and the old brake rotors, untreated scratches on the brake rotors, or improper return of the wheel cylinders.
Solution: It is recommended to drive for 300–500 kilometers during the break-in period. If the abnormal noise persists, the brake rotor flatness or the condition of the wheel cylinders should be inspected.
2. Brakes feel soft
Cause: Incomplete air bleeding during installation or degraded brake fluid.
Solution: Bleed the brake lines to remove air, and replace the DOT 4 brake fluid if necessary.
3. Brake does not return to position
Cause: The slave cylinder piston is jammed by contaminants.
Solution: Professionally clean the sub-pump piston assembly using a dedicated lubricant.
4. Smoke Emission After Installing the New Film
Cause: High-temperature decomposition of organic components (especially on long downhill sections).
Solution: This is a normal phenomenon; if smoking persists, check whether brake pads of different materials have been mixed.
5. Brake Direction Deviation
Cause: Uneven braking force between the left and right wheels
Solution: Four-wheel brake pressure monitoring is required; replacement of the brake pads from the same production batch may be necessary.
6. Pedal kick
Cause: Abnormal wear on the brake disc has resulted in grooves.
Solution: Brake rotors and pads must be replaced together; individual replacement is prohibited.
7. Rapid wear
Cause: Poor-quality materials or aggressive driving
Solution: Submit proof of purchase from an authorized retailer to request a quality inspection; normal wear and tear is not covered under the warranty.
8. Online purchase model does not match
Solution: The vehicle’s VIN must be provided for re-matching; self-grinding and reuse are prohibited.
9. Questions about Material Replacement
Important Note: NAO material cannot be directly substituted for semi-metallic material; the entire system must be replaced.
10. Anti-Counterfeiting Verification
Solution: The laser anti-counterfeiting code can be verified through official channels; products with no manufacturer information, no production date, and no expiration date are not covered under warranty.
Note: All brake system repairs must be performed by a certified technician; unauthorized work may void the warranty. It is recommended to inspect the remaining thickness of the brake pads every 10,000 kilometers, ensuring it does not fall below 3 mm.
