On January 24, the Human Resources Department organized a patriotic education activity for the company’s out-of-town and newly hired engineering and technical personnel. In the morning, the group visited the Nanjing Museum, located next to the Ming Imperial Palace. The History Hall displays a vast collection of excavated artifacts, including bronzes and ceramics from Yizheng; the Digital Hall employs cutting-edge digital technologies to present 3D reconstructions of ancient human skulls, as well as depictions of daily life and historical settings; the Republic of China Hall recreates a familiar cultural atmosphere; and the Art Hall showcases treasures such as jade artifacts, bronzes, Ming and Qing dynasty porcelain, and calligraphy and paintings. Each piece tells the story of the evolution of human civilization from ancient times to the present. These precious relics inspire awe at the ingenuity and wisdom of our ancestors while fostering a profound sense of national pride. Participants paused to carefully examine the museum’s diverse exhibits, with an abundance of valuable illustrations and original artifacts offering a rich feast of history and art that allowed everyone to deeply appreciate the museum’s profound historical heritage and distinctive cultural characteristics.
In the afternoon, we visited the Nanjing Massacre Memorial Hall at Jiangdong Gate in western Nanjing. Built on one of the original mass graves where Japanese troops perpetrated the massacre, the memorial houses the remains of victims, a vast collection of precious historical photographs, authentic artifacts, and audiovisual materials that vividly expose the heinous crimes committed by the Japanese army in Nanjing. The sculptures in the square, the interplay of light and shadow within the memorial, the lifelike reenactments, and the countless relics and images all tell the harrowing tale of the Nanjing Massacre, profoundly moving and deeply shaking each of our hearts.
This visit deepened everyone’s understanding of history and fostered a more profound appreciation for the suffering endured by our compatriots at that time. As inscribed on the walls of the memorial hall: “History may be forgiven, but it must never be forgotten.” The devastating toll of war has made us all acutely aware of how precious peace truly is. Participants agreed that organizing such activities is highly meaningful, and pledged to work even harder upon their return to contribute their part to the country’s prosperity and flourishing.
