Building a Business on Excellence and Applying What We Learn—ASIMCO Camshaft Project Management Special Training Concludes Successfully

To cultivate and enhance the overall quality and capabilities of project management personnel, ASIMCO Camshaft (Yizheng) Co., Ltd. conducted a two-day offline training on “Automotive Parts Development Process and Project Management” in Room 205 of the company from April 8 to 9, 2023. The training course was planned and implemented by the Human Resources Department, which also participated throughout the entire process. A total of more than 30 managerial backbones and engineering technicians took part in this learning session.
Teacher Chen Xinchun, who is in charge of the training, has designed ten instructional modules based on the trainees’ respective job functions and areas of business.
① Quality management system and development process;
② Project management system and project management in the automotive industry;
③ The project initiation phase;
④ APQP and the project plan (WBS);
⑤ Effective project organization and the project team;
⑥ Supplier collaboration management;
⑦ Project risk management;
⑧ Effective control of the project implementation process;
⑨ Communication management for component projects;
⑩ Change management for component projects and project closure for R&D projects, among other tasks.
Teacher Chen’s training focuses on hands-on, practical application, with an emphasis on standardized processes and case studies, enabling participants to apply what they learn and master real-world project management skills. The program provides a comprehensive understanding of project management theory, methodologies, tools, and techniques, enhances participants’ ability to identify and mitigate project risks, optimizes project management plans and approaches, and ultimately improves project management efficiency and quality.
Through a points-based competition among five teams, participants’ classroom engagement and initiative were effectively stimulated. Over the course of two days of interactive learning, attendees gained valuable insights and took away meaningful takeaways; they integrated the project management methodologies they had learned with their own work practices, ensuring that the outcomes of this training would be directly applicable to their day-to-day responsibilities. At the conclusion of the program, Teacher Chen presented awards to the top-performing individuals and teams based on their outstanding performance and high point totals throughout the training.
Insights from an Outstanding Trainee: Based on the case studies provided by the instructor, we have become proficient in applying key theoretical tools—such as the Five Major Tools, Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), Fishbone Diagram, SMART Principles, and the 8D Problem-Solving Method—to the project development process. A strong start is half the battle; as a qualified project manager, one must consistently prioritize customer requirements, conduct thorough feasibility analyses, build a project team that is complementary, collaborative, and communicates effectively, proactively mitigate risks, and ultimately maximize organizational value.
