Good News! Camshaft Hu Xiaorong Wins the Group Innovation Project Award!

      Recently, Hu Xiaorong of ASIMCO Camshaft (Yizheng) Co., Ltd. was awarded the “2023 ASIMCO Group Innovation Award” for his automation project on the “Automatic Pouring Machine” for casting.
Previously, the pouring process in the original casting workshop required two workers per shift, and the position was classified as a high-intensity physical labor role. In addition, the transfer of ladles was performed manually by pushing, which posed significant risks in terms of labor intensity and workplace safety. Consequently, the company has decided to implement an automated upgrade for the pouring process.
 
The automatic pouring machine comprises key core components such as the main carriage body, front-and-back traversing mechanism, tilting mechanism, ladle cover, PLC-based automatic control system, inoculant-injection-in-flow system, and an automated weighing and precise dosing system. The weighing sensors utilize a high-precision weighing system from HBM in Germany, with a weighing accuracy of ±0.5 kg. Overtravel limit switches are installed at all start and end positions, and the PLC control system is programmed to enforce overtravel displacement limits, providing dual safety and reliability. In addition, the spheroidization station has been retrofitted: after the ladle is transferred to the spheroidization platform via forklift, the system automatically aligns and interfaces with the pouring machine, thereby reducing staffing requirements and lowering the intensity of manual labor.
The pouring machine is integrated with the existing molding line to enable continuous production, with automated pouring performed by the automatic pouring machine. This reduces the demands on operators’ technical skills and physical fitness, mitigates the risk of staffing shortages due to high employee turnover, and enhances the stability of the pouring process. Moreover, manual intervention can be initiated at any time as needed, making operation safer, more reliable, and more convenient.
After the implementation of the automatic pouring machine, labor costs have been reduced, and both the physical workload and safety risks have been lowered; molten iron consumption has been effectively reduced, thereby decreasing smelting energy consumption; automation has replaced manual operations, and the addition of inoculants via a flow-through system has improved the accuracy of dosage, enhanced process control, and consequently stabilized the quality and consistency of the cast blanks.
