To enhance employees’ fire safety awareness and emergency response capabilities, and to ensure production and personnel safety, ASIMCO Camshaft organized an annual comprehensive fire-fighting and evacuation drill on July 8, 2025, with the participation of more than 50 employees, mainly new hires.
This live-fire drill simulates an “electrical short-circuit fire” in an office building and is structured into four key phases:
1. Fire Alarm Reporting and Initial Response: Upon detection of a fire, the on-duty personnel immediately report the incident and notify the fire alarm location by telephone. Within two minutes, the EHS Department arrives on scene with fire extinguishers and demonstrates the four-step operating procedure for dry powder extinguishers—“lift, pull, grip, and press”—successfully bringing the initial fire under control.
2. Emergency Evacuation: Evacuation guides on each floor promptly take their positions and, using verbal announcements and hand signals, instruct employees to bend low, cover their mouths and noses with wet towels, and evacuate along the “dual-route” evacuation paths marked by emergency exit signs.
3. Emergency Search and Rescue and Medical Care: Two employees are simulated to have fainted, prompting rescue personnel to initiate emergency response. Simultaneously, the medical team conducts a simulated CPR procedure on the “injured,” demonstrating a professional and standardized response protocol.
4. Hands-on Fire Safety Training: In an outdoor open area, fire safety officers provided a detailed briefing on the proper use of fire extinguishers and fire hydrants, and organized more than 50 new employees and personnel in key positions into small groups for practical training, ensuring that “everyone gets hands-on experience and passes the assessment.”
Following the drill, the Safety Committee convened a post-exercise review meeting. Data showed that 100% of all personnel met the standards for evacuation and escape, and 95% performed initial fire-extinguishing procedures correctly. Notably, during the emergency evacuation drill, it took only 3 minutes and 28 seconds for all personnel to evacuate to the designated safe assembly area—12 seconds faster than last year.
Many employees reported that this event has shifted their mindset from being “passive participants” to “proactive stewards” of safety responsibility. Wang Yujun from the Equipment Department shared his profound insight: “I used to think operating a fire extinguisher was straightforward, but once I actually tried it, I realized there are numerous details to master—such as positioning relative to the wind direction and the optimal angle for extinguishing the fire. This training has given me a much deeper understanding of my responsibilities for fire safety.”
“Fire drills are not mere formalities; they are a mandatory course for safeguarding lives,” emphasized Du Wenwen, the company’s general manager. “The company must adhere to the principle of ‘prevention first, life above all’ and integrate safety culture into every stage of production, thereby building a robust ‘firewall’ for high-quality development.” Looking ahead, ASIMCO Camshaft will continue to strive for “zero accidents,” further improve its safety system, and strengthen its safety defenses.
