ASIMCO Camshaft Holds Onboarding Symposium for New College Graduates
On August 17, 2018, ASIMCO Camshaft (Yizheng) Co., Ltd. held an orientation meeting for newly hired college graduates in Conference Room 203 of the company. Attendees included recent college graduates who had joined the company over the past two years, their respective internship mentors, and the company’s head of human resources. General Manager Chen Aiguo, Deputy General Manager for Technology and Quality Dai Hongxing, and Union Chairman Zhou Quan also attended the meeting and engaged in cordial conversations with the new employees. This was the latest in a series of orientation meetings for newly hired college graduates that the company has organized in recent years, underscoring the company’s strong commitment to talent development. During the meeting, the head of human resources carefully inquired about the interns’ progress and work conditions, encouraging them to freely share their thoughts and opinions. Yang Zhongjin, a machining process engineer who recently graduated from university in July and joined the company, was among the first students this year to begin their internship. In the discussion, he shared that over the past five months, he had successfully transitioned from a student to a professional, discovering that ASIMCO Camshaft is a highly positive and thriving team. Throughout his internship, both his mentors and supervisors provided him with extensive guidance, while his colleagues were always eager to help him adapt to the new environment. Working on the shop floor, he realized that being deeply involved at the frontline is the foundation for effective work. He expressed his willingness to grow and develop alongside the company, striving to achieve his personal goals and aspirations. Li Yinglong, who works in the Technical Department, has been with ASIMCO Camshaft for more than a year. He noted that although he had previous work experience, he found ASIMCO Camshaft to be far more standardized and employee-friendly compared with his former employer. The harmonious relationships among colleagues enabled him to quickly integrate into the team. He now serves as a project manager, a role that comes with considerable pressure, as he understands that no single individual can complete a project alone—effective coordination and communication across departments are essential to ensure smooth project execution. His personal standard is to approach every detail of his work with meticulous care, since it is often the small details that determine success or failure. The new graduates actively shared their views, expressing their desire to deepen their learning and enhance their professional skills within the company. They also raised some questions about their work and personal lives. Several internship mentors echoed these sentiments, noting that the new hires are hardworking and resilient, proactively engaging with on-site operations, possessing a solid foundation, and adapting quickly to their roles. They further advised the interns to use their own critical thinking to identify problems, reflect frequently, draw lessons from experience, and continuously improve their overall capabilities. Following this, Deputy General Manager Dai expressed high hopes for the company’s technical team, emphasizing that learning technology requires setting aside pride, proactively communicating, and efficiently resolving issues. He urged everyone to work in the right way, with a fearless attitude toward challenges, a willingness to question, and a spirit of innovation. As the union leader, Chairman Zhou showed great concern for the employees’ extracurricular life, stating that the union would organize various activities in the future to enrich their cultural and recreational experiences. Moreover, the union would do its utmost to assist the employees in addressing any inconveniences or difficulties they encounter in their daily lives. At the conclusion of the meeting, General Manager Chen Aiguo delivered a closing address, briefly outlining the more than twenty-year journey of the camshaft business—from its inception and growth to its current robust expansion—and highlighting the outstanding achievements the company and its products have attained in the industry. He encouraged everyone to contribute their wisdom and talents to further strengthen our camshaft enterprise. Looking ahead, Mr. Chen mentioned that the company’s goal is to achieve full automation, reduce labor intensity, promote smart manufacturing, move toward Industry 4.0, and gradually optimize the workplace environment, particularly by creating a comfortable and safe working atmosphere for employees. In addition, the company maintains a highly “OPEN” communication culture: employees are encouraged to raise any concerns—whether related to work or personal life—with their superiors, up to and including the General Manager, who will make every effort to meet reasonable requests. At the same time, Mr. Chen urged everyone, regardless of their position, to view their job as an opportunity for personal growth and development, stressing the importance of perseverance and steadfastness—only by holding firm can one ultimately see the light at the end of the tunnel. After hearing these remarks from the leadership, the new employees felt even more confident and determined, vowing to remain grounded in their work, diligently acquire new skills, and contribute their wisdom and energy to the company’s continued development. Additional news: On August 26, 2018, ASIMCO Camshaft (Yizheng) Co., Ltd. organized a summer team-building event titled “Blossoming Dreams, Moving Forward Together” at Nanyuan Garden in Yizheng. Under the guidance of staff, participants toured the garden’s facilities and orchards, enjoyed a well-organized barbecue lunch, and then took part in fun games in the afternoon, spending a joyful and meaningful day together. At the end of the event, the bonds among the employees had deepened, and their communication had become more seamless. We are confident that we can build an even closer, more positive camshaft team!

A Pioneer in Leading Clean Production —— A Record of Improving the Foundry Shot Blasting Machine
In response to the company’s call for “5S participation by all employees,” we have not only implemented improvements to the workshop’s on-site environment but also upgraded the relevant equipment. The existing shot-blasting machine in the casting workshop has been in service for many years and now suffers from numerous problems: a high failure rate, significant shot leakage during operation, low blasting efficiency, and poor blasting results. To address these issues, the company has newly introduced a shot-blasting machine that integrates online cooling of raw castings with surface cleaning. This shot-blasting machine features a chain-driven design with hanging hooks; raw castings are directly suspended on the hooks at the shaft-removal station, then conveyed along a long track for simultaneous cooling before being transferred to the blasting track. Prior to the shaft-cutting process, the castings—along with their gating systems—are blasted together. This workflow differs from our current procedure, in which raw castings are first removed and placed in batches on transfer carts, which are then pushed by operators to designated positions in sequence, followed by the shaft-cutting team moving the carts to the cutting machine to remove the gating systems, and finally subjecting the castings to shot blasting. This new process offers several advantages: first, it significantly reduces the physical workload of shaft-removal workers and minimizes the handling and transportation of raw castings; second, since the entire casting is blasted as a unit, adherent molding sand is thoroughly removed, reducing dust generation during cutting and decreasing the need to clean sand off the transfer carts; third, the gating system, which is reused as furnace charge, emerges clean after blasting, resulting in cleaner molten iron during smelting, lower slag production, reduced slag-removal labor, and lower fuel consumption—all of which contribute to more stable product performance. The introduction of this equipment not only enhances product quality but also improves the working conditions for frontline workshop personnel, aligning with current environmental protection trends.
