New Lines for Established Products, Adding More Highlights — Successfully Passed AVALON Machining Line’s PPAP Audit

From April 12 to 15, 2016, Mr. Chen Huisheng from Foton Cummins Procurement SQIE conducted a PPAP audit on ASIMCO’s Camshaft AVALON Camshaft Capacity Expansion Project. The AVALON Camshaft had already completed the PPAP audit for its first production line in 2008, marking the beginning of business cooperation between our company and Foton Cummins. The AVALON Machining Line 2 was established to meet the growing capacity demand of Foton Cummins’ medium-horsepower models. It is a new production line built by strictly replicating equipment based on the original machining line, with a designed annual capacity of 80,000 units. Sample parts were provided in 2015, and at the end of the year, the line successfully passed Foton Cummins’ bench validation. After three days of on-site audit and product testing, the successful completion of this PPAP audit provides strong support for further expansion of bilateral cooperation and has become a new growth driver for business in 2016.

Hualing Automobile Engine Branch Visits ASIMCO Camshaft

On April 19, 2016, a delegation of six, including Jiang Yiqun, Deputy General Manager of Anhui Hualing Automobile Engine Branch, and Li Fu, Head of the Materials Department, paid a visit to ASIMCO Camshaft Co., Ltd. Chen Aiguo, General Manager of the company, along with the sales, production, and technical quality teams, extended a warm welcome to the guests. Since the beginning of this year, market demand for Hualing’s Hanma power engines has increased substantially; it is expected that in April the production of 10L/12L Hualing Hanma engines will exceed 1,000 units, representing a year-on-year increase of 150%. To meet customer needs, ASIMCO Camshaft Co., Ltd. has specially established a dedicated production line for Hualing camshafts. Meanwhile, the company’s production, technology, and other departments have effectively boosted capacity through production organization and process improvements, ensuring 100% on-time delivery. Zhou Quan, Director of Sales, accompanied the guests on a tour of the machining workshop and the product testing center. During the subsequent exchange, Jiang Yiqun, Deputy General Manager of Hualing Engine Company, commended ASIMCO Camshaft for its support and cooperation in product quality and delivery, and expressed appreciation for the company’s portfolio of high-quality global customers such as Cummins and Fiat, as well as its comprehensive range of supporting products. This visit by senior management from Anhui Hualing Automobile Engine Branch will help maintain a strong cooperative relationship between ASIMCO Camshaft and Anhui Hualing, and the growing bulk demand for Hualing’s Hanma series engines will become a new growth driver for ASIMCO Camshaft in the future.

Cummins Headquarters Experts Visit ASIMCO Camshaft

From March 8 to March 10, 2016, Mr. Girish, Project Leader of the Manaus project at Cummins headquarters, along with senior quality expert Mr. Bob Decker and a delegation of six, visited ASIMCO Camshaft (Yizheng) Co., Ltd. The Camshaft for the Manaus project is a strategic cooperation project between ASIMCO Camshaft Company and Cummins, and the engine will be sold exclusively in the U.S. domestic market. Given the ambitious target of an 800,000-kilometer warranty life for the camshaft, we leveraged our extensive expertise in camshaft materials, design, and manufacturing to recommend new materials and surface treatment technologies to Cummins; pre-alpha samples have now been delivered. The primary purpose of this visit was to discuss and exchange views on dynamic loads in camshaft design, engine test parameters, and limit parameters, as well as to analyze and validate new camshaft materials and treatment technologies. Through these exchanges, both parties strengthened their confidence in successfully completing this highly challenging project, clarified specific technical specifications and quality requirements, and developed a detailed project implementation plan. Accompanied by company leaders, the Cummins delegation toured the casting and machining workshops, carefully observing each production step along Cummins’ dedicated production line. The guests highly commended ASIMCO Camshaft’s validation tests and improvement measures aimed at enhancing quality. Mr. Girish expressed his sincere gratitude for ASIMCO Camshaft’s strong support for the Manaus project, while also praising the camshaft team’s proactive and open attitude, as well as its ability to communicate effectively with customers and resolve issues. Cummins experts proposed a shared commitment with ASIMCO Camshaft: “We are a team to make Manaus project successful!”

ASIMCO Camshaft Wins “Excellent Supplier”

The 2016 Supplier Conference of Hualing Xingma Automobile Group, themed “Transformation and Upgrading, Structural Adjustment, Innovative Development, and Win-Win Cooperation,” was held in Ma’anshan City on February 28. For the first time, Hualing Automobile invited engine suppliers to attend the conference, with a total of 59 core engine suppliers in attendance. Chen Aiguo, General Manager of ASIMCO Camshaft Co., Ltd., was invited to participate. During the conference, leaders of Hualing Xingma Automobile Group reviewed the company’s operations, products, quality, and material supply performance in 2015. ASIMCO Camshaft, as a Camshaft supplier for the Engine Division of Hualing Automobile, has been involved in product development since the very inception of the division. Currently, it provides camshafts in bulk for two series of HANMA Power engines: the CM6D18 for the 10L engine and the CM6D28 for the 12L engine. In 2015, ASIMCO also developed two camshafts for natural-gas engines—the CM6T18 and CM6T28. The launch of these two natural-gas engines will help boost the overall business volume of Hualing’s engine division. Throughout its collaboration with Hualing Automobile, ASIMCO Camshaft has earned high recognition from Hualing for its superior product quality and 100% on-time delivery. At this supplier conference, ASIMCO Camshaft was honored by Hualing Xingma Automobile Group as an “Outstanding Supplier.”

Cummins Vice President Visits ASIMCO Camshaft

On January 26, 2016, Mr. Tim Millwood, Vice President of Procurement at Cummins Inc., together with Mr. Zhang Hongwu, Senior Manager of the Engine Business Unit of Cummins China, and Mr. Xu Dongya, Procurement Manager, paid a visit to ASIMCO Camshaft, a “strategic supplier” of Cummins. The visit was hosted by Ni Wei, Vice President of ASIMCO Group; Chen Aiguo, General Manager of ASIMCO Camshaft; and Zhou Quan, Director of Sales, among other leaders. Mr. Chen extended a warm welcome to the Cummins delegation. During the meeting, Mr. Ni provided an overview of ASIMCO Group and highlighted the key growth areas in its collaboration with Cummins. Mr. Chen then gave a detailed briefing on ASIMCO Camshaft, emphasizing the company’s outstanding quality performance on Cummins’ global platform, its effective communication and support with Cummins’ R&D team on new product projects, and its investment plans for Cummins’ future business. Following the meeting, Mr. Chen and other ASIMCO executives accompanied the Cummins delegation on a tour of the casting and machining workshops. At the ISG dedicated production line, Mr. Chen explained in detail the close design collaboration between ASIMCO Camshaft and Cummins, as well as ASIMCO Group and ASIMCO Camshaft’s full support for Cummins’ operations in terms of capacity expansion. Cummins’ leadership commended ASIMCO Camshaft’s achievements, particularly the company’s remarkable record of zero PPM for ISG camshafts in overseas after-sales service, and also offered several suggestions for improvement regarding on-site safety and slip prevention, product mix-up and error-proofing, and research into product dimensional stability under extreme temperatures. This visit by Cummins’ senior management will help ASIMCO Camshaft maintain strong communication with Cummins on existing projects and further facilitate the two companies in expanding their cooperation into deeper areas.
